RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A new higher education collaboration has been established between the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) and the Government of Algeria following a formal announcement in Jakarta on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

According to Deputy Minister Fauzan, Kemdiktisaintek is prioritizing this alliance to ensure that the development of domestic human resources and industrial innovation is supported by global expertise. The synergy is being built through the ministry’s efforts to synchronize academic programs and open scholarship pathways between the two countries.

"Kemdiktisaintek fosters the quality of existing industries in Indonesia through research related to Indonesia's natural wealth and continues to increase international cooperation, such as student exchanges, visiting professors, and research collaborations. Hopefully, we can also implement this with Algeria," he said, as quoted by Antara.

Fauzan supports expanding existing industrial collaborations between Indonesia and Algeria toward providing scholarships and learning facilities for students in strategic fields.

"In principle, when we talk about education, the horizon is very wide. Therefore, there are many opportunities for cooperation that will ultimately lead to the strengthening of education," he said.

Furthermore, Director General of Higher Education Khairul Munadi explained that Algeria is a priority partner due to the strong track record of cooperation between the two nations.

Two flagship initiatives currently include the Developing Countries Partnership (KNB) Scholarship and The Indonesian Aid Scholarship (TIAS), both of which feature Algeria as a partner country. Director General Khairul confirmed plans to expand international scholarship recipients and increase the mobilization of students, lecturers, and university-to-university partnerships.

"We prioritize strengthening the higher education ecosystem through cooperation and interaction with international partners, both through the ministry and between campuses," he remarked.

In response, the Head of the Algeria-Indonesia Parliamentary Friendship Group Delegation, Mohammed Yazid Benhemouda, encouraged increasing the number of scholarships offered by both countries.

"Algeria hopes for a new generation that can bridge the two countries. The Developing Countries Partnership (KNB) Scholarship has already had a positive impact; hopefully, there will be broader opportunities for Algerian students and scientists to study in Indonesia," Mohamed Yazid concluded. ***
