RRI.CO.ID, Davos: Indonesia reinforced global collaboration at the panel “Crisis or Opportunity? Skills for a 2030 Workforce” in Davos. The discussion took place at the Indonesia Pavilion on Tuesday, 20 January 2026.
It also explored workforce readiness as automation, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy reshape jobs. The panel reflected Indonesia’s response to shifting global employment patterns.
Speakers discussed how skills development can support inclusive and sustainable economic growth. International cooperation was seen as essential for preparing future-ready workers.
Secretary of the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries, Muhammad Rudy Salahuddin, highlighted Indonesia’s demographic advantage. He said a large productive-age population creates strong momentum for digital talent development.
This advantage opens broader opportunities for global partnerships. “So right now, we still need around 9 million digital talents for the next 15 years. So, it's an opportunity to do business in Indonesia, especially for education and training for the digital talent,” Rudy said.
He noted digital skills are increasingly important across many sectors. Industry, public services, and technology-based businesses all require digitally capable workers.
Meanwhile, Minister of Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, affirmed collaboration as a shared responsibility. She said digital talent development cannot be handled by the government alone.
Global standards and international partnerships remain critical. “We believe that to produce more and more good digital talents who are ready for the future needs, we have to be collaborative. We have to work hand in hand to get the global standards to upskill our young generation,” Meutya said.
She highlighted Indonesia’s population of around 280 million people. About 60 percent belong to younger generations entering productive age. This demographic strength offers major potential for digital workforce growth.
