RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has provided the latest update on the condition of Indonesians currently live in Iran amid an evolving situation.

Speaking to reporters after the 2026 Annual Press Statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (PPTM) in Jakarta, Wednesday, 14 January 2026, Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that communication with Indonesians in Iran currently remains challenging.

However, he noted that the majority of Indonesians in Iran are students concentrated in the cities of Qom and Isfahan, areas that have not been directly affected by demonstrations.

“Communication with Indonesians in Iran is somewhat difficult, but based on the latest information I have received, most Indonesians there are students concentrated in Qom and Isfahan. The reports reaching me show that we continue to monitor the situation dynamically. Not many Indonesians have been affected,” Sugiono said.

He added that although Indonesians in Iran have largely been unaffected so far, the government continues to urge all Indonesians in Iran to remain vigilant and closely monitor security developments.

“We also need to convey to all Indonesians in Iran to remain alert, pay close attention to developments on the ground, and avoid areas or locations where demonstrations are taking place,” Sugiono said.

Sugiono further stated that the government has instructed the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran to prepare anticipatory measures, including evacuation options, should they be required at any time.
