KBRN, Jakarta: A significant step was taken to bolster educational technology (EdTech) cooperation between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as President Prabowo Subianto witnessed the exchange of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (UAE) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Emirates Indonesia Cardiology Hospital in Surakarta, Central Java, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

As reported by Antara, this LoI marks a strategic step for both nations in strengthening collaboration in education, specifically aimed at improving the quality of Islamic religious educational institutions in Indonesia.

The partnership is built upon: The Khalifa Foundation’s global mission to support humanitarian, development, and educational initiatives. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ mandate to enhance the quality, governance, and competitiveness of Islamic religious educational institutions (madrasah and pesantren).

Both parties emphasized their shared interest in cross-country cooperation to drive digital transformation, pedagogical innovation, and the development of technology-based learning environments.

The collaboration is envisioned as a model that can deliver learning solutions that are more adaptive and inclusive for Indonesia's young generation.

The Khalifa Foundation and The Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs also underscored the need for EdTech solutions that are sustainable and cost-effective, appropriate for the specific context and needs of religious educational institutions in Indonesia.

This approach is expected to be scalable, providing tangible benefits to students, teachers, and the broader Islamic education community across different regions.

Witnessed directly by President Prabowo, this collaboration symbolizes the strong commitment of both Indonesia and the UAE to empowering education as a foundation for national progress, while simultaneously deepening the friendship between the two countries in human development and future technology. ***
