KBRN, Jakarta: PLN Institute of Technology (ITPLN) is advancing its commitment to sustainable technology by hosting the International Conference on Advanced Technologies in Energy and Informatics (ICATEI) 2025 in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, from October 22–23.

The event brings together researchers, academics, and industry experts from 15 countries to collaborate on renewable energy and digital innovation.

Speaking from Jakarta on Wednesday, ITPLN Rector Prof. Iwa Garniwa emphasized that the conference marks a concrete step in the university’s contribution to Indonesia’s sustainable technology development.

“We hope ICATEI 2025 becomes a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration between academia and industry. ITPLN is committed to driving innovation that secures the future of energy and informatics in Indonesia,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Prof. Iwa noted that the forum goes beyond idea exchange; it opens doors for joint research and the development of technologies aligned with global needs. “We believe this conference will generate fresh ideas and best practices that strengthen the research ecosystem in renewable energy and digitalization,” he added.

General Chair of ICATEI 2025, Prof. Syamsir Abduh, who also serves as ITPLN’s Vice Rector I, described the event as a key moment for enhancing international cooperation. “We received hundreds of papers from various countries, and 116 were selected through a rigorous review process. This reflects strong global interest in energy transition and digital technology,” he said.

The two-day conference features five online sessions and eight parallel sessions, some of which are held on ITPLN’s campus. Participants include dozens of academics, practitioners, and researchers presenting selected papers from a pool of 272 submissions.

On the second day, attendees joined a technical tour to strategic sites in Lombok, including the Lombok Peaker Combined Cycle Power Plant, Vena Energy Power Plant, and the traditional village of Desa Sade, offering firsthand insights into renewable energy applications and local wisdom.

ICATEI 2025 underscores ITPLN’s role in fostering global collaboration and innovation in the pursuit of a sustainable energy future. ***
