KBRN, Doha: Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono represented President Prabowo Subianto at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Doha, Qatar on Monday, September 15, 2025. The summit addressed the urgent aftermath of Israel’s attack on Qatar on September 9, 2025.

Minister Sugiono’s attendance followed President Prabowo’s recent visit to Doha and Abu Dhabi, which reinforced Indonesia’s solidarity with Qatar and its unwavering support for the Palestinian people amid ongoing regional tensions.

In his keynote speech, Minister Sugiono condemned the Israeli aggression as not only a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty but also a blatant breach of international law, the UN Charter, and OIC principles. He warned that such acts pose a grave threat to both regional and global peace.

Reiterating Indonesia’s firm backing of Palestine, Minister Sugiono stressed, “There will be no lasting peace without a two-state solution. The only path to peace lies in achieving a free and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

The summit concluded with a Joint Communiqué condemning the Israeli attack as a violation of sovereignty and international law while expressing strong solidarity with Qatar. It also endorsed the mediation efforts led by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States and reaffirmed the collective commitment to uphold the two-state solution.

Established in 1969, the OIC is a coalition of 57 member states, including Indonesia. The Emergency Summit in Doha served as a critical platform for the Muslim world to demonstrate unified leadership in advancing peace, justice, and solidarity across the region.

The summit, chaired by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, convened 22 heads of state and government from OIC and Arab League member countries, including leaders from Turkey, Palestine, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Malaysia. ***
