KBRN, Jakarta: Bali’s rich cultural heritage captivated Japanese audiences at the 18th Enoshima Bali Sunset festival, held on September 6–7 on Enoshima Island, Fujisawa, Japan. The event once again highlighted the role of Balinese arts as a vital conduit for cultural diplomacy and as a platform to promote Indonesian tourism.

Muhammad Al Aula, Coordinator of Social and Cultural Information at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, praised the strong collaboration between Indonesian and Japanese communities in organizing the festival.

Supported by the Enoshima Bali Sunset Executive Committee, the Indonesian Embassy, and Garuda Indonesia, the event showcased the deepening friendship between the two nations. “This collaboration reflects the warm bond between our countries. We hope this synergy continues to grow across other mutually beneficial sectors,” remarked Al Aula in a press release on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

He also encouraged the Japanese public to explore other destinations in Indonesia beyond Bali through direct visits. The festival featured a variety of Balinese art groups such as Sanggar Kecak from Banjar Bali, GSP Tokyo, and A.A. Gde Iswara Mandera, whose memorable performances delighted spectators.

Adding to the festive atmosphere were performances by Gondang Kreasi, Sinanggar Tulo, and the Maumere Dance, which engaged the Japanese audience in interactive participation.

Fujisawa Mayor Tsuneo Suzuki expressed full support from the Japanese government for the event, emphasizing the importance of Indonesia-Japan collaboration in promoting Balinese culture. The Indonesian Embassy also took the opportunity to remind Indonesians living in Japan to maintain good conduct, as their behavior shapes the image of Indonesia in Japan.

“Our actions represent Indonesia’s face to the Japanese people. Strengthen your bonds with the local community,” urged Al Aula.

Beyond its cultural performances, the Enoshima Bali Sunset event served as a vital bridge for sustaining cultural diplomacy while advancing the promotion of Indonesia’s diverse tourism and cultural heritage to the Japanese public. ***
