King Argentine Clinches 2025 Triple Crown in Indonesia

KBRN, Yogyakarta: Thoroughbred racehorse King Argentine, owned by King Halim Stable, officially claimed the 2025 Indonesia Triple Crown title after winning the final leg at the Indonesia Derby held at Sultan Agung Horse Racing Track, Bantul, Yogyakarta, Sunday (27/7/2025).

This victory marked King Argentine’s clean sweep of all three series in the Triple Crown championship, held since April, and ended an 11-year wait since the title was last won by Djohar Manik in 2014.

In the main event, the 3-Year-Old Derby 2,000-meter class — King Argentine outpaced 11 other contenders from across the country, including Wonder Land, Sidney Allstar, and Manik Siwa. The race was fiercely competitive until the finish line, but King Argentine demonstrated consistency to secure the historic win.

The achievement makes King Argentine only the third racehorse in national history to win the Triple Crown, while further cementing King Halim Stable’s position as a major force in Indonesia’s horse racing scene. This milestone also marks a new chapter in Indonesian equestrian sports and is expected to reinvigorate the development of a more professional and competitive horse racing industry.

The Indonesia Derby serves as the pinnacle of the Indonesia’s Horse Racing 2025 (IHR 2025) series, which featured 156 horses from 12 provinces, competing across 18 race classes for a total prize pool of Rp1.2 billion. The prestigious Triple Crown title is awarded to a racehorse that wins three national-level races in one season, covering the 3-Year-Old Derby classes at distances of 1,200 meters, 1,600 meters, and 2,000 meters.

The IHR 2025 series was warmly received by the public, attracting thousands of spectators and strong support from horse racing communities across the country. King Argentine’s triumph is seen as a crucial moment for the resurgence of Indonesia’s equestrian sports, increasingly recognized as both a competitive sport and a high-class entertainment platform.
