KBRN, Jakarta: Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Al Muzzammil Yusuf, emphasized that Indonesia is a nation that upholds peace and independence. In a special interview with Voice of Indonesia,Tuesday (15/7/2025), Al Muzzammil, who also serves as the President of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), stated that, in line with its Constitution, Indonesia firmly rejects all forms of colonialism, including the occupation of Palestine by Israel.

He reaffirmed that Indonesia remains committed to supporting Palestine in its struggle for independence from ongoing colonial rule.

“Indonesia’s position is very clear, as a government, as a parliament, and as a people. We have at least four main reasons for this,” Al Muzzammil said.

First, he cited the preamble of the 1945 Constitution, which affirms that independence is the right of all nations and that colonialism must be abolished in all forms. This principle, he stated, is a firm foundation for Indonesia’s support of the Palestinian people.

Second, he referred to a speech by Indonesia’s founding president, Soekarno, who declared that Indonesia would always stand with Palestine until it achieves full independence, and would not establish diplomatic relations with Israel until that happens.

Third, Al Muzzammil highlighted Indonesia’s foundational philosophy, Pancasila, particularly the second principle: “Just and civilized humanity.” He stated that the current situation in Palestine clearly violates this value.

Fourth, he pointed to the religious connection, noting that approximately 85 percent of Indonesians are Muslim, creating a strong emotional and spiritual bond with the Palestinian cause.

“These four reasons explain why Palestine receives such significant attention from Indonesia,” he affirmed.

Al Muzzammil also called on the international community to continue supporting Palestinian independence. He expressed appreciation for the Indonesian people’s ongoing solidarity and humanitarian support for Palestine.
