KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesian Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya welcomed the visit of Fabien Penone, the French Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN, at the Ministry's office in Jakarta on Monday (23/04/2025). The meeting focused on concrete steps to implement the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indonesian and French governments in the field of the creative economy.

“We are committed to promptly implementing this cooperation through tangible initiatives, both in Indonesia and France, across various subsectors such as film, animation, games, design, fashion, and crafts,” said Minister Teuku Riefky as quoted from the official statement on Tuesday (24/6).

The MoU was previously signed by Minister Teuku Riefky and French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Indonesia at the end of May 2025. Ambassador Penone also extended an official invitation for Indonesia to participate in Bastille Day (La Fête Nationale), celebrated annually on July 14 in France.

Minister Teuku Riefky further encouraged long-term collaboration through initiatives such as a Creative Talent Exchange, masterclasses, workshops, and exchange programs involving creative economy stakeholders. This partnership is expected to strengthen bilateral ties through cultural and creative industry channels.

Ambassador Penone welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the importance of continuity and the execution of strategic and impactful joint programs.

“We are ready to bring in experts and industry players from the private sector to support various training and capacity-building activities. The French market is highly competitive, but Indonesia has great potential and should have confidence,” said Ambassador Penone.

Through this partnership, the Ministry of Creative Economy believes it can foster synergy between the public and private sectors of both countries as a real application of the hexahelix approach. The ministry also hopes the collaboration will support the development of a globally competitive creative economy ecosystem.
