RI, Malaysia Launch Coordinated Border Patrol at Serudong Post

KBRN, The Indonesian Border Security Task Force Field Artillery Battalion 11/Army Strategic Reserves Command (Satgas Pamtas Yonarmed 11/Kostrad), in collaboration with the Royal Malaysian Army, has officially launched Coordinated Border Patrol (Patkor) Series 1 for 2025.
The opening ceremony took place at Serudong Post on the Indonesia-Malaysia border on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
Serudong Post is strategically located between North Kalimantan Province, Indonesia, and Sabah State, Malaysia.
The ceremony was attended by Commander of Satgas Pamtas Yonarmed 11/Kostrad Lt. Col. Arm Gde Adhy Surya Mahendra, along with Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel representing Indonesia, and Lt. Col. Muhammad Ishraq bin Ibrahim, Commanding Officer of 3 RAMD and leader of the Malaysian delegation, accompanied by his team.
Gde Adhy emphasized that the patrol initiative is a strategic measure to prevent illegal activities in border areas. These include illegal logging, unauthorized mining, human trafficking, unlawful border crossings, and the smuggling of drugs and other illicit goods.
"This patrol is a tangible manifestation of the commitment and synergy between the TNI and the Royal Malaysian Army in maintaining border security and strengthening bilateral relations in defense," said Gde Adhy, as quoted from the Kostrad Facebook page.
In his remarks, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Ishraq bin Ibrahim underscored the patrol's importance in ensuring the presence and condition of national boundary markers. He highlighted that the initiative also aims to improve soldiers' professionalism and foster closer cooperation between the two military institutions operating in the border region.
The ceremony was conducted with solemnity and camaraderie, marking the commencement of a series of patrol activities for Patkor Series 1 in 2025, which will be carried out along the Indonesia-Malaysia land border. ***
