RRI.CO.ID, Seoul - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Seoul held a special screening of Jumbo at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall, Seoul, on Thursday, 12 February 2026. The event was part of Indonesia’s cultural diplomacy efforts to introduce its animated films to Korean and international audiences.

The screening brought together members of the diplomatic corps, Korean government officials, creative industry players, academics, media, film communities, the Indonesian diaspora, and students from both countries. Their presence showed strong interest in closer cultural exchange between Indonesia and Korea.

The film, directed by Ryan Adriandhy, marks his debut feature-length animation. The screening also marked an important milestone as one of the first Indonesian animated films shown in Korean cinemas.

Indonesia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Cecep Herawan, expressed pride in presenting Jumbo to Korean audiences. He said the film embodies universal themes of friendship, family, and personal growth that can connect people across cultures.

He added that promoting Jumbo reflects the Embassy’s commitment to strengthening mutual understanding between Indonesia and Korea. It also highlights the growing achievements of Indonesia’s creative industry on the global stage.

One Seoul resident, Yeon Seungjae, shared his positive impression after watching the film. He praised the quality of the animation and said the story was touching and meaningful.

Jumbo is a fantasy adventure produced by Visinema Studios in collaboration with Springboard Entertainment and Anami Films. The story follows Don, a 10-year-old orphan who discovers courage and self-confidence through a magical journey and the power of friendship.

After its release in Indonesia on 31 March 2025, Jumbo has been screened in several countries and has now arrived in Korea. The Embassy worked with Korean distributor Barunson E&A to promote the film ahead of its public release on 18 February 2026.

More than just a film screening, the event reflects Indonesia’s second-track diplomacy approach by building people-to-people connections through culture. Through Jumbo, Indonesia shares not only creativity, but also values that bring communities closer together.
