National Dental Health Month Launches Free Oral Care Nationwide

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A nationwide campaign offering free dental checkups, treatments, and educational workshops has officially launched to promote long-term oral hygiene and preventive care across Indonesian communities.
Organized as part of National Dental Health Month (BKGN) 2026, the annual initiative is backed by the Association of Indonesian Dental and Oral Teaching Hospitals (ARSGMPI) and the Association of Indonesian Dental Faculties (AFDOKGI). Free services and outreach programs will be available at 29 dental faculties and educational dental hospitals across the country throughout the campaign.
Educational drives will target six regencies and cities in West Java, along with disaster-affected regions in East Nusa Tenggara and Papua, with support from the Indonesian Dental Association (PB PDGI).
"Because many pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) in Indonesia also function as orphanages, they critically need our support to understand daily oral hygiene, proper tooth-brushing techniques, and the correct use of toothbrushes and toothpaste," said Chairman of ARSGMPI A. Tajrin, during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday, September 17, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Tajrin emphasized that mother-focused community groups will also serve as primary educational targets due to their central role in maintaining household health standards. "The role of mothers is vital," Tajrin added.
