RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Banyuwangi Regent, Ipuk Fiestiandani, presented Indonesia's primary healthcare innovations at the Leimena Conference in Jakarta on Monday, July 27, 2026. The national health forum was organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Health.
Ipuk joined the Leaders Talk session alongside regional leaders from across Indonesia. The discussion was opened by Indonesia's Vice Minister of Health, Benjamin Paulus Octavianus.
She highlighted Banyuwangi's efforts to strengthen Integrated Primary Healthcare through community health centers. The regency developed innovative services despite fiscal, human resource, and infrastructure limitations.
One flagship initiative transforms community health centers into Healthy Community Malls. The program encourages residents to undergo regular health checks before becoming ill.
Banyuwangi also expanded preventive healthcare through nutrition and outreach programs. These include stunting task forces, nutrition assistance, and mobile healthcare services for remote communities.
Ipuk introduced Oasis Wangi, a free 24-hour WhatsApp health consultation service. The initiative connects residents directly with healthcare workers for family healthcare guidance.
"No matter how large the budget is, it will never be enough if it is only used for treatment. However, preventive measures can reduce healthcare costs. Banyuwangi has implemented this approach since 2018, and it has become even stronger through synergy with the Indonesian Government's Free Health Check program," she said.
Indonesia's Vice Minister of Health, Benjamin Paulus Octavianus, appreciated Banyuwangi's healthcare innovations. He said stronger community health center services indicate preventive healthcare is working effectively.
