RRI.CO.ID, Salatiga - Indonesia's National Nutrition Agency (BGN) promoted improvements to the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program through a traditional puppet performance. The event took place during the Wayang Golek Santri performance in Salatiga, Central Java, on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

The event was organized by the Directorate General of Public Communication and Media of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs. It featured renowned puppeteer Ki Haryo Susilo Enthus Susmono as part of the public outreach program.

During the dialogue session, Central Java Regional Coordinator Assistant of the Nutrition Fulfillment Acceleration Team (KPPG), National Nutrition Agency, Riyan Eko Prasetyo, outlined Indonesia's commitment to improving the program. He said the agency is conducting a comprehensive evaluation under its new leadership.

The evaluation is guided by five key commitments to strengthen the program's implementation nationwide. The commitments are expected to improve service quality and ensure assistance reaches intended beneficiaries more effectively.

Riyan said the evaluation reflects Indonesia's commitment to continuously improve the national nutrition program. He explained that the agency has introduced five priorities under its new leadership.

"Under the new leadership, the Free Nutritious Meals program is being comprehensively evaluated. Under this new leadership, there are five commitments that have become the National Nutrition Agency's targets and priorities." he said.

The five commitments include budget efficiency and more accurate beneficiary targeting, especially for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and young children. They also cover a moratorium on new Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) construction and improvements to existing facilities and personnel.

Another commitment focuses on expanding services to Indonesia's disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost regions, known as the 3T areas. The agency aims to ensure equal access to nutritious meals across the country.

Riyan also appreciated public participation in improving the program through constructive feedback and criticism. He said community input plays an important role in strengthening governance and refining the program's implementation.
