RRI.CO.ID, Lampung - President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, inaugurated the KH. Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital in Krui, Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung Province, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. The inauguration, which was also attended by Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, is part of the Indonesian government's efforts to strengthen equitable health services, especially for communities in areas with limited access to health facilities.
On the occasion, President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the health sector is a key factor in the government's efforts. He believes that every citizen has the right to receive adequate health services regardless of location, therefore, the development of health facilities in the regions continues to be encouraged to reduce the disparity in services between regions.
The President stated that the Indonesian government is equipping regional hospitals with more modern medical technology. "The government is currently implementing the National Health Service Modernization Program, which is distributing nearly a thousand units of medical equipment across 514 regencies/cities," he said.
The President also stated that the government is accelerating the strengthening of the national health system through the construction of new hospitals, revitalization of existing health facilities, and improving the quality of services at community health centers. These efforts are expected to expand the reach of health services to underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions.
On the same occasion, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, explained that the inauguration of this hospital is part of a program to increase the capacity of 66 regional hospitals throughout Indonesia. He said the program is designed to strengthen the treatment of diseases that are the leading causes of death in Indonesia, such as stroke, heart disease, cancer, kidney disorders, and maternal and child health issues.
Budi added that the success of the program depends not only on the available facilities, but also on professional hospital management so that the benefits can be felt by the community in the long term. "We are not only constructing buildings and providing medical equipment, but also strengthening hospital governance, service quality, and providing support from national referral hospitals so that health services in the regions can run optimally and sustainably," he said.
