RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Health, together with the Harapan Kita Heart and Vascular Hospital (RSHC), held a topping-off ceremony for the construction of the Harapan Kita-Tokushukai Building on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. This building symbolizes strengthening international collaboration to improve the quality of heart health services in Indonesia.
Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated that the construction of this building is the result of a long-standing collaboration between Harapan Kita Heart Hospital and the Tokushukai Group of Japan, which has existed since 2004.
"Today we are topping off the tallest building at Harapan Kita Hospital. This is a grant worth approximately Rp1 trillion from Tokushukai, made possible through a long-standing collaboration, ranging from the exchange of doctors, knowledge, and now assets," Minister Budi conveyed.
He hopes that the presence of this new building will not only increase the hospital's physical capacity, but also the quality of human resources and healthcare services. "Hopefully, what will be superior is not only the building, but also the knowledge, skills of the healthcare workers, and most importantly, the quality of service, so that it can address heart health issues for the community throughout Indonesia," he said.
The Minister of Health also emphasized the importance of strengthening promotive and preventive services to reduce the number of heart disease cases, which constitute one of the largest expenditures in the National Health Insurance (JKN) program.
"Heart disease is one of the largest expenditures in the BPJS (Social Security Agency). Risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, and smoking must be managed early, starting at the Community Health Center through early detection and early treatment," he explained.
In addition, the Ministry of Health is also encouraging the use of technology in primary care, including the use of EKGs and early therapy at Puskesmas to reduce referrals and hospital burden.
Furthermore, the Minister of Health revealed that the facilities in the new building will be equipped with the latest technology, including the advanced Da Vinci surgical robot, scheduled to be launched in November 2026.
