Indonesia and WHO Sign Grant Agreement for the 2026-2027

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, together with the World Health Organization (WHO), officially signed the Grant Agreement and Joint Workplan WHO Biennium 2026–2027 as a strategic step to strengthen the development and resilience of the national health system.

This collaboration supports the implementation of health programs aligned with the WHO 14th General Program of Work, the Ministry of Health's Strategic Plan, the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan and the six pillars of health transformation. Through this agreement, WHO Indonesia provides funding support amounting to USD 14,859,366 in the form of cash, goods, and services to support the implementation of health programs during the biennium period.

Based on the information received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health, Kunta Wibawa Dasa Nugraha, expressed appreciation for the close partnership that has been established between the Ministry of Health and the WHO.

According to him, WHO's support has significantly contributed to strengthening promotional and preventive efforts, improving the quality of health services, enhancing the health resilience system, and developing evidence-based health policies.

"The signing of the Grant Agreement and Joint Workplan Biennium 2026–2027 is a strategic step to ensure the continuity of WHO's support for national health development priorities. This collaboration serves as an important foundation in strengthening a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable health system," Kunta conveyed.

Furthermore, Secretary General Kunta emphasized the Ministry of Health's commitment to optimizing the implementation of the Joint Workplan thru close coordination with all technical units receiving grants. He also hopes that the WHO continues to provide technical and policy support, particularly in strengthening the capacity for planning, monitoring, and program evaluation to align with the Ministry of Health's key performance indicators.

The signing of this agreement is expected to accelerate the implementation of the agreed activities and provide a tangible impact on improving the health status of the Indonesian people, while also supporting the achievement of national health targets and sustainable development goals.
