RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian Ministry of Health is expanding its Free Medical Check-up (CKG) Program to include free prevention and treatment services. Now in its second year, the program is shifting its focus from routine examinations to comprehensive medical care, aiming to ensure that all Indonesians enjoy better health.
“What must be ensured is that in 2026, it will not only be about medical check-ups, but also about providing comprehensive medical treatment to ensure that all Indonesians are in good health,” Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said.
He explained that all services, ranging from screening and prevention to treatment, will be free of charge for the first 15 days for all Indonesians. After this period, healthcare services will remain free only for residents actively registered as participants in the BPJS Healthcare program.
“Not only are health checks free, but prevention and treatment are also free. But this is free for the first 15 days for all Indonesians,” Minister Budi said
He reminded the public to register immediately for BPJS Healthcare to ensure continued access to free services. “If people have an active BPJS membership, their health treatment is free, but if they don’t, they have to pay after 15 days. The payment is only several tens of thousands per month, which should be less than the cost of cigarettes,” Minister Budi said.
According to ministry data, 70 million Indonesians participated in the CKG Program across 38 provinces in 2025. “Out of our total 10,300 community health centers, 10,225 have implemented the program. There are still a few community health centers that have not implemented it, especially in extremely remote areas,” Director General of Primary and Community Health Maria Endang Sumiwi said.
