KBRN, Tangerang: Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) has strengthened health protocols for arriving international passengers in response to renewed concerns over COVID-19. The measure follows the Health Ministry’s recent detection of seven new cases among Indonesian citizens.
Head of the airport's Health Quarantine Center (BBKK), Naning Nugrahini, has announced stricter health protocols for air passengers to prevent the spread of COVID-19 into Indonesia through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
"We have coordinated with airlines to ensure that travelers from their country of origin complete the Satu Sehat Healthy Pass (SSHP) before departure. This allows us to identify symptomatic passengers and assess the risks associated with each flight," Naning stated on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
Naning also emphasized that BBKK will intensify health monitoring at the airport, aiming to track potential virus transmission.
"Anyone showing signs or symptoms of an infectious disease will undergo an antigen swab test. We will also recommend self-isolation and notify the local health office at the passenger’s destination," she explained.
Further laboratory testing will be conducted to determine the specific virus strain affecting passengers. "Close contacts on the flight will undergo epidemiological investigations, and if a passenger tests positive for COVID-19, the aircraft will be disinfected," she added.
The Ministry of Health has detected seven new COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, based on specimen testing conducted in May 2025.
According to Health Ministry spokesperson Widyawati, the reported cases for epidemiological week M22 (May 25–31) totaled seven, with a positivity rate of 2.05 percent.
This means that out of 100 tested individuals, two were confirmed positive during that period. The highest positivity rate in 2025 was recorded in epidemiological week 19, reaching 3.62 percent.
The highest number of cases occurred in Jakarta, Banten, and East Java during week 19. Throughout 2025, the Ministry of Health has tested 2,160 specimens, with 72 individuals confirmed positive for COVID-19. ***
