RRI.CO.ID, Banyuwangi - Indonesia's nationwide Indonesia ASRI (Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful) Movement brought more than 1,000 volunteers together for a coastal cleanup in Banyuwangi. The activity took place at Ancol Plengsengan Beach, Red and White Fishing Village (Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih/KNMP), on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

The initiative was organized by the Directorate General of Regional Administration Development of Indonesia's Ministry of Home Affairs and the Banyuwangi Regency Government. Fishermen, residents, students, environmental activists, police officers, soldiers, and civil servants joined the cleanup.

Director General of Regional Administration Development at Indonesia's Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal, said the movement encourages public participation in protecting the environment. He added the campaign especially promotes greater awareness of waste management and environmental order.

"Today in Banyuwangi, the Ministry of Home Affairs, together with the regency government, is carrying out the Indonesia ASRI Movement. This is an environmental movement, especially to raise awareness about waste management and maintaining an orderly environment." he said.

Safrizal conveyed Banyuwangi was selected because of its consistent implementation of Indonesia's strategic national programs. He expressed confidence the regency could become a model for other regions implementing the Indonesia ASRI Movement.

"Banyuwangi always takes national directives seriously. Therefore, we believe this region can become an example for other regions, including in implementing the Indonesia ASRI Movement." he added.

Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani, said the local government has adopted the initiative through the Banyuwangi ASRI Movement. She added the program combines routine community cleanups with broader efforts to build public awareness of maintaining a safe, healthy, clean, and beautiful environment.
