RRI.CO.ID, Purbalingga - The Central Java Government has expanded clean water access through a new drinking water supply system in Purbalingga. The project was highlighted in Purbalingga, Central Java, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) now delivers clean water directly to households in Kutabawa Village. The infrastructure ended years of water shortages that forced residents to purchase water during the dry season.

Kutabawa Village Head, Budiyono, said flooding five months earlier had damaged the previous pipeline supplying water from a neighboring village. The disruption left many families struggling to secure adequate clean water.

He said the provincial government's new pipeline has restored reliable water access for local residents. The system currently serves 97 households that previously faced limited access to clean water.

"Thank God, clean water is flowing again. Families that once spent Rp500,000 to more than Rp1 million each month now contribute only around Rp30,000 to Rp50,000 for pipeline maintenance," he said.

The Central Java Government said the project forms part of broader efforts to improve clean water access in drought-prone communities. Six of the province's 12 planned SPAM projects for 2026 have already been completed.

Officials said expanding reliable water infrastructure is expected to improve public health and reduce household expenses. The initiative also supports sustainable rural development by ensuring safer access to clean water.
