RRI.CO.ID, London - Indonesia promoted innovative financing to strengthen national park conservation during London Climate Action Week 2026. The initiative was presented by Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni in London on Monday, 23 June 2026.

Speaking at the high-level Nature and Finance session, Raja Juli outlined Indonesia’s conservation financing strategy. He said nature should be managed as a strategic asset supporting long-term national development.

Indonesia is advancing an approach that combines environmental protection with economic opportunities. The policy aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision for sustainable and inclusive growth.

A key initiative is the Presidential Task Force for Innovative Financing for National Parks. The platform aims to strengthen ecosystem restoration and develop sustainable conservation funding sources.

The task force also supports biodiversity protection and ecosystem resilience across preservation areas. It is expected to help secure long-term financing for Indonesia’s protected landscapes.

Indonesia is developing financing mechanisms including carbon credits, biodiversity credits, conservation bonds, and ecotourism. Other mechanisms include debt-for-nature swaps and additional innovative funding schemes.

Raja Juli said ecosystem protection should deliver ecological, social, and economic benefits simultaneously. He stressed the importance of shifting toward a more investment-based conservation model.

“Indonesia believes that nature is not only something to be protected, but development capital that must be managed and invested in sustainably. Therefore, we need to shift from the paradigm of financing conservation toward investing in protection,” he said.

The Indonesian Government is preparing science-based investment prospectuses for thirteen priority national parks. The documents highlight ecosystem services, biodiversity protection, climate action, sustainable tourism, and community development benefits.

Indonesia also introduced the One Species, One Company initiative to encourage private-sector participation. The country invited global partners to support practical and measurable conservation financing solutions.
