RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi and Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, held a meeting at Wisma Danantara in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. After the meeting, Prasetyo Hadi stated that the government is accelerating a number of strategic projects, one of which is the Waste to Energy project.

He mentioned that several project sites are being consolidated to make implementation more effective and efficient.

“There were six that had their groundbreaking ceremonies. Previously, there was the Waste to Energy project, which was originally planned for 33 locations. However, during the on-site process, some locations were merged, bringing the total to approximately 29,” Hadi said.

Hadi hopes all these projects can soon begin their groundbreaking phases. The government aims to have physical construction of these projects underway by this April.

Previously, on March 6, 2026, Danantara officially selected Wangneng Environment and Zhejiang Weiming as partners to manage waste-to-energy projects in Bekasi and Denpasar. The selection of these international companies was conducted through a very rigorous selection process to ensure the best results.

The project aims to reduce waste at landfills in accordance with Presidential Regulation No. 109/2025. The program is also expected to create a new, more environmentally friendly source of electricity for the community.
