RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Forestry, through the Directorate General of KSDAE, has carried out comprehensive preparations to ensure that nature tourism services in National Parks and Nature Recreation Parks remain safe and sustainable. This strategic move is taken to anticipate the national holiday and collective leave for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, which is expected to draw high public enthusiasm.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Forestry on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, Indonesia currently possesses extraordinary environmental service potential through 57 National Parks and 145 Nature Recreation Parks across 580 entry points. The Director General of KSDAE, Satyawan Pudyatmoko, has instructed all Technical Implementation Units in the field to increase security and routine patrols during the long holiday period.

These efforts align with the Minister of Forestry's directives, which emphasize the "zero waste" and "zero accident" principles to maintain the integrity of conservation areas. The primary strategy involves preventing visitor congestion through the optimization of digital systems and strict management of regional carrying capacities.

“The use of digital technology, such as online booking, has proven to significantly speed up service at entrance gates and reduce visitor crowding, ensuring that the zero accident principle remains our top priority,” Satyawan stated. He further added that cashless payment systems will be expanded to provide a smoother and more transparent tourism experience for the public.

Based on last year's evaluation, public interest in nature tourism remains high, with recorded visits reaching 421,683 tourists during the Eid period. Hiking activities at popular mountains like Rinjani and Ciremai are predicted to be the main highlights once again, alongside being favorite locations for family gatherings.

The government is also implementing specific operational policies where certain Nature Tourism Objects (ODTWA) will remain open, while others may be closed for environmental sustainability reasons. Comprehensive information regarding the opening and closing status of these areas has been presented transparently so that the public can plan their trips more effectively.

Management teams will continue to intensify waste patrols to support the zero waste movement while urging visitors to discipline themselves by carrying their trash back out. “Our preparations refer to six main aspects to ensure every visitor receives a smooth, safe tourism experience while preserving the forest’s sustainability, he said”
