RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The work of Indonesian photographer Hengki Koentjoro was exhibited at the 2026 Xposure International Photography Festival, which took place from January 29 to February 4 at Aljada in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

The festival featured photojournalism and visual art. The 10th edition, themed "A Decade of Visual Storytelling," included an exhibition of over 3,200 photographs, as well as panel discussions and workshops involving over 420 photographers and visual creators from more than 60 countries.

"Hengki Koentjoro's participation in the 10th edition of Xposure demonstrates that the work of Indonesian photographers can compete and be recognized on the global stage," said Denny Lesmana, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Dubai, in a press release from the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai received on Monday, February 9, 2026.

"The visual identity of Indonesia has a strong philosophical depth that goes beyond mere representations of exotic beauty," Lesmana added as quoted by Antara. 

Koentjoro exhibited black-and-white photographs under the theme "Liquid Planet" at the festival. Using the concepts of slow photography, monochrome aesthetics, and long exposure, he depicted natural landscapes. His writings emphasize balance, tranquility, and spiritual principles.

Although Hengki works as a freelance videographer and video editor in Jakarta for nature documentaries and business profiles, he always finds time for his passion for black and white photography.

"Through his work, Hengki Koentjoro has successfully demonstrated that Indonesian photography possesses narrative power rooted in observation, patience, and awareness of the importance of nature conservation," said Denny.

Photography is considered an important tool for introducing Indonesia's rich natural and cultural heritage to the international community.

By participating in international exhibitions such as Xposure, Indonesian photographers aim to present a visual narrative of the archipelago that encompasses natural beauty, culture, and conservation of natural resources.

"Currently, only one Indonesian photographer is featured as a main exhibitor. However, we hope that in the future, more national talents will emerge, offering diverse perspectives ranging from photojournalism to nature conservation," said Denny.

"This will strengthen Indonesia's representation in the global creative industry," he added. ***
