RRI.CO.ID, Bantul - The short fiction film "Bunga-Bunga di Jala Ikan (A Mixed Blessing)" by student from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta has been selected to collaborate with the Juilliard School, a world-renowned music school based in New York, USA.

Directed by Cinta Setia, this film has been included in the Juilliard's Art of the Score program at the Bali International Film Festival (Balinale). Through this program, Cinta and her film team will collaborate with music students and composers from the Juilliard School to create the film's soundtrack.

Bunga-Bunga di Jala Ikan (A Mixed Blessing) is the first film written by Cinta and the third she has directed. This work also marks the first collaboration between Cinta and producer Saddam Putra Dewa Rimbawan.

Addressing social issues and community resilience through local traditions set on Lake Rawa Pening, this film tells the story of a family's struggles, forced to resort to the Sedekah Rawa Pening tradition to meet their household needs.

Cinta said that this collaboration marked her first international experience, particularly in the creation of the soundtrack for Bunga-Bunga di Jala Ikan (A Mixed Blessing).

"From the script development process, we have always collaborated with everyone to maximize our potential and the potential of Bunga-Bunga di Jala Ikan. This collaboration on the score for the Balinale program with the Juilliard School is my first international collaboration," Cinta said recently.

Meanwhile, producer Saddam said that this collaboration was his second, having previously participated in a similar program for the film Gadis dan Penatun in 2023.

"In this second collaboration, I will certainly ensure that this work is much more optimal and better than my previous work, because I already understand the workflow and potential of this film," she said.

Saddam expressed his hope that this collaboration will open up further opportunities, particularly in the film's post-production and distribution stages. "I hope this collaboration opens up other opportunities for collaboration in post-production and, of course, distribution of this film," he said.

The collaboration with the Juilliard School is scheduled for completion in April 2026. Following post-production, the film is scheduled to screen at the Bali International Film Festival, which will take place from June 1–7, 2026. (Misni Parjiati/Bambang MBKA)
