KBRN, Jakarta: Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) is a popular destination for Jakartans during Christmas, New Year's, and school holidays. From December 22, 2025, to January 3, 2026, the arts and culture center in the heart of the capital city received 67,198 visitors.

According to PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) President Director Iwan Takwin, the main attraction during the holiday season was the Teater Bintang Planetarium Jakarta. The science education facility recorded more than 5,500 visitors, and tickets for nearly every show sold out.

This enthusiasm confirms the growing popularity of science tourism, especially among families and students.

To ensure equitable access, Jakpro implemented a ticket purchase system through two official channels: the online platform Loket.com and the TIM ticket counter. This balanced quota system for online and offline purchases is implemented in accordance with the policies of the Jakarta Provincial Administration.

"The high number of visits reflects the shift in urban travel preferences. This surge in visits demonstrates that educational spaces focusing on science, the arts, and culture continue to attract Jakarta residents and domestic tourists," said Iwan in Jakarta on Thursday, January 8, 2025.

According to Iwan, the Jakarta Planetarium is now a recreational destination and a medium for inclusive science literacy. Interactive learning experiences are increasingly relevant to the needs of urban communities.

"Achieving more than 5,500 visitors at the Jakarta Planetarium indicates that educational tourism significantly contributes to developing quality tourism in Jakarta," he said.

In line with this transformation, the Jakarta Planetarium's Bintang Theater now features the latest sky projection technology, offering a world-class experience. The facility's upgrades include a digital astronomy visualization system, solar system simulations based on cutting-edge scientific data, and enhanced educational functions for students and the scientific community.

The Jakarta Planetarium also plans to introduce an AI Virtual Host: an artificial intelligence–based digital guide that presents astronomical and historical information interactively. This addition symbolizes the Jakarta Provincial Administration's support for the development of science and technology.

Beyond the planetarium, the TIM area hosts various activities during holidays, including music concerts, exhibitions, conferences, and interdisciplinary arts programs. These activities make TIM a vibrant, dynamic, and inclusive public space. (Misni Parjiati/Bambang MBKA)
