KBRN, Jakarta: Local intellectual property (IP) brand Pipilaka, inspired by the Sanskrit word for “ant,” has launched an immersive art exhibition that blends storytelling, music, and technology to encourage collective environmental awareness.
The exhibition, titled Pipilaka Calling, opened at Sarinah in Central Jakarta on Monday, December 15, 2025, and will run until March 8, 2026.
Founded by Indonesian artist and creator Wahyadi, Pipilaka is more than an entertainment brand. It serves as a cultural platform to convey humanitarian values and concern for nature. “Through art, we can channel positive energy and meaning. The message we want to convey is simple: how we can love each other and also love the earth,” Wahyadi said at the opening ceremony, as reported by Antara.
He emphasized that the exhibition’s message is especially relevant amid frequent natural disasters. Environmental awareness, he noted, can begin with small acts such as not littering and supporting one another in preserving nature.
The name Pipilaka, meaning “ant” in Sanskrit, symbolizes cooperation and collective work. The brand adopts this philosophy to remind people of the importance of working together to protect the environment and prevent further damage to the planet.
The Pipilaka Calling exhibition features a sculpture installation of the Pipilaka persona, enhanced by immersive visuals, interactive elements, holographic technology, and music.
The character appears to speak directly to visitors, delivering messages about environmental stewardship, togetherness, and human values.
The project also serves as a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, involving craftspeople, artists, IP creators, AI technicians, and hologram developers from across Indonesia. Much of the creative work was centered in Yogyakarta, which served as the main studio for the exhibition.
The immersive experience is enriched by the voices of well-known Indonesian artists, including Rossa, Fadil Jaidi, Cinta Laura, Soimah, Dwi Sasono, Nirina Zubir, Agus Ringgo, and Heruwa. Their performances add depth and emotion to the Pipilaka characters.
Singer Rossa, one of the collaborators, highlighted the exhibition’s educational value for children. “Waste disposal practices must be taught from a very early age. This exhibition is a great learning experience for kids, helping them grow into future leaders who care for the environment,” she said.
PT Sarinah President Director Raisha Syarfuan said the exhibition demonstrates how art can thrive in public spaces while connecting creative works with a broad audience.
“For Sarinah, Pipilaka is not just an exhibition, but an example of how art can live in the right public space. As a center of Indonesian culture, Sarinah serves as a platform to present messages of humanity and environmental concern in a relevant and impactful way,” Raisha said.
Tickets for Pipilaka Calling are priced at IDR 50,000 on weekdays and IDR 75,000 on weekends and public holidays. Proceeds from ticket sales will support social and educational initiatives, particularly those aimed at children and the arts community. ***
