KBRN, Jakarta: The Anugerah Musik Indonesia (AMI) Awards, the country’s most prestigious recognition for musicians, returns this year with its 28th edition, reaffirming its role as a platform to celebrate the richness of Indonesian music and its creative ecosystem.

Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha Djumaryo emphasized that AMI has become a highly anticipated event for musicians and industry stakeholders. “As the President has said, culture must be the face of the nation and state,” Giring noted in Jakarta on Friday, November 14, 2025, as reported by Antara.

He added that AMI continues to raise quality standards each year while adapting to the evolving music ecosystem. “This year, I heard there are nominations for voice directors, which is extraordinary. In this digital era, everyone has equal opportunities,” he said.

Candra Darusman, President of the Indonesian Music Awards Foundation (YAMI), highlighted the distinct brand of AMI. “Winning an AMI award makes musicians feel not only joyful, but also honored and proud,” he said.

The final night of the AMI Awards, themed Bhinneka Tunggal Suara (“Unity in Diversity of Voices”), will feature celebrations of musicians’ journeys and achievements over the past year. “Let us rejoice together and show our support. We are all proud of your accomplishments,” Candra added.

Organized by AMI Foundation with full support from the Ministry of Culture, the 28th AMI Awards will announce winners in 63 categories and five special awards.

The first session, held during the day, will reveal 50 categories, while the evening session will present 13 categories, along with the special awards, live on stage.
