RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) together with the Indonesia Central Securities Depository (KSEI) reaffirm their commitment to enhancing the competitiveness of the national capital market on the international stage. Through a technical meeting with the global stock index provider, Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), the two institutions formulated strategic steps to strengthen market transparency and integrity for global investors.

In the meeting held in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, the IDX presented several action plans as a follow-up to the previous submission of technical documents. This step is deemed crucial to ensure Indonesia's position remains relevant and competitive in the increasingly dynamic global investment landscape.

The acting President Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Jeffrey Hendrik, revealed that there are three main points of focus in discussions with MSCI. These include transparency in share ownership, deeper data access, and the enforcement of public shareholding rules in the market.

"First is the disclosure of shareholders above 1 percent, the second is more granular investor data. The third is of course the progress of implementing regulation 1A on listing which requires free float from 7.5 percent to 15 percent," Jeffrey stated.

In addition to strengthening data disclosure, Jeffrey also emphasized the IDX's plan to adopt global standards thru the issuance of the Shareholders Concentration List or a list of stocks with concentrated ownership. This step refers to best practices that have been implemented by global exchanges, such as the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, as an effort to enhance investor protection and maintain the integrity of stock price movements in the market.

"As part of our commitment to enhancing market transparency and integrity, we also look at best practices in global exchanges. Therefore, we will also issue a shareholders concentration list or a list of stocks that are indicated to have concentrated shareholders," he conveyed.

On the other hand, the President Director of KSEI, Samsul Hidayat, expressed full support for this initiative, particularly in the aspect of more transparent data infrastructure for market participants. The transparency of share ownership data is expected to provide a clearer picture for investors in making investment decisions.

Regarding the 15 percent free float rule, the IDX notes that there are currently still 268 listed companies that need to make adjustments to meet this requirement. To ensure a smooth transition, the stock exchange authority has provided a special hot desk service to assist issuers in meeting the established minimum public shareholding threshold.
