International Coffee Day: Top Indonesian Coffee Varieties

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - International Coffee Day, observed every 1 October, is a moment to celebrate coffee while introducing Indonesia’s diverse coffee varieties, many of which are known internationally.
As a coffee-producing country, Indonesia is home to a wide range of coffee varieties, each with distinct characteristics and flavors from different regions. This diversity is one of the attractions of Indonesian coffee for coffee enthusiasts around the world.
One of them is Gayo coffee from Aceh. It is known for its signature aroma and bold flavor, and is among the Indonesian coffee varieties exported to international markets.
From North Sumatra, there is Mandailing coffee, which has a well-balanced flavor. Its distinctive characteristics have made it known and enjoyed by coffee lovers, including those who appreciate classic coffee styles.
Then there is Toraja coffee from Sulawesi, known for its complex flavor profile with hints of spice. This standout flavor has helped Toraja coffee gain recognition internationally.
Meanwhile, Kintamani coffee from Bali offers a fruity and refreshing character. This unique profile is one of the attractions of Balinese coffee for coffee enthusiasts.
In addition to these varieties, Indonesia has many other local coffees, including kopi luwak (civet coffee), known for its distinctive characteristics. This diversity further enriches the identity of Indonesian coffee on the global stage.
International Coffee Day provides an opportunity to learn more about Indonesia’s rich coffee heritage while appreciating the diverse flavors produced across the archipelago.
