UGM Holds UI GreenMetric Annual Award 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - UI GreenMetric has once again held its annual Announcement and Awarding Ceremony for the UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings Indonesia 2026. This year, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) was honored to serve as the host.

Carrying the theme “Advancing Sustainable Campuses through Governance, Digitalization, and Integrated Performance,” the event brought together university leaders, academicians, central and regional government representatives, and stakeholders to strengthen governance, digitalization, and integrated performance in realizing sustainable campuses across Indonesia.

This ranking is more than just a competition; it is a collaborative platform to appreciate achievements and share best practices among higher education institutions. Vice Rector for Education and Teaching of UGM, Prof. Dr. Wening Udasmoro, S.S., M.Hum., DEA., welcomed the forum as a crucial space to strengthen sustainability networks. She emphasized that digital transformation opens great opportunities for universities to manage resources more effectively, transparently, and accountably, in line with this year's theme.

This collective commitment was reinforced by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Prof. Dr. Indra Wijaya Kusuma, M.B.A., and the Head of UI GreenMetric, Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A. Prof. Indra conveyed the event should not stop at ranking appreciation but should become a driver for sustainability innovations. Dr. Vishnu stressed that UI GreenMetric is not merely a ranking, but a movement network.

A university, he said, has the power as a multiplier of change when sustainable practices implemented on campus are carried by students, lecturers, and alumni into society, business, and government. The event was also attended by the Director General of Watershed Management and Forest Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Forestry and the Regional Secretary of the Special Region of Yogyakarta as a form of multi-sectoral support.

This multi-sectoral collaboration dimension was discussed in depth during a national talkshow titled “Multi-Sector Collaboration in Realizing Sustainable Campus Transformation in Indonesia.” The session featured the Director of Regional Digital Government Technology Acceleration from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, the Regent of Sleman, the Vice Rector for Planning, Assets, and Information Systems of UGM, and the former Village Head of Panggungharjo (2012–2024) as a sustainable development practitioner.

The discussion affirmed that a sustainable campus must not only excel in environmental performance but must also have strong governance, strategic use of technology, and a tangible impact on the surrounding community.
