RRI.CO.ID, Bandung - As Chinese investment in Indonesia grows, demand for skilled workers is rising. To respond, Padjadjaran University (Unpad) welcomed a delegation from the Shanghai Employment Promotion Center on Thursday, June 25, 2026, to explore collaboration in talent development and employment opportunities for graduates.

Unpad Rector Arief S. Kartasasmita highlighted the university’s dual focus on science-based education and vocational training.

“We are continuously strengthening vocational education to align more closely with industry needs,” he said, as quoted on the university's official website, stressing that partnerships with international institutions can accelerate graduate readiness for the global job market.

Deputy Director Huang He of the Shanghai Employment Promotion Center expressed keen interest in working with Unpad to support human resource development tailored to industry demands.

“We want to learn how universities produce high-quality talent and help enhance student skills, so they meet industry requirements,” he explained.

The meeting explored several areas of cooperation, including sharing information on industry workforce needs, strengthening vocational programs, and developing internship and job placement opportunities with Chinese companies operating in Indonesia.

Both sides agreed that such collaboration could bridge higher education and industry while expanding career prospects for Indonesian graduates. This partnership signals a broader effort to connect Indonesian universities with global industry networks, ensuring that graduates are better prepared to meet the demands of an evolving workforce. ***
