UI’s Deputy Rector for Research, Innovation, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Hamdi Muluk, expressed optimism that the visit would mark the beginning of a meaningful and sustainable partnership.

“We welcome the exploration of concrete programs, including academic mobility, so this collaboration can be implemented soon,” he said in Depok, West Java, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Khalifa University, which has rapidly risen to 147th place in the QS World Rankings despite being established in 2017, sees the partnership as a strategic opportunity.

Khalifa University Provost Bayan Sharif highlighted the university’s vision to become a global institution driving positive change. “We hope to partner with UI and develop diverse collaborations that will strengthen the international reputation of both universities,” he noted.

Both sides identified potential areas for joint research, including energy, climate resilience, environmental science, coastal science, geoscience, data science, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence (AI).

The collaboration is expected not only to enhance global visibility but also to broaden the academic competencies of UI scholars.

Beyond research, the partnership discussions also covered academic mobility programs, such as student exchanges, faculty exchanges, and cultural immersion initiatives.

UI additionally expressed interest in serving as a bridge for UAE-based companies and start-ups seeking entry into the Indonesian market.

This initiative reflects UI’s broader strategy to expand international cooperation and reinforce its role in advancing global academic collaboration while positioning Indonesia as a hub for innovation and knowledge exchange. ***
