RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo – Sekolah Indonesia Tokyo (SIT) held its 2025/2026 graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Balai Indonesia in the SIT complex. The event was held together with SIT’s 64th anniversary celebration and carried the theme “Cakrawala Ilmu, Jejak Mendunia,” or “Horizons of Knowledge, Footprints Across the World.”
A total of 47 students from kindergarten to senior high school officially completed their studies this year. Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir, congratulated the graduates and reminded them that graduation is not the end of their learning journey, but the start of a new chapter.
“Graduation day is a moment to be grateful for the long journey that has been taken. The education you received at the previous level should become a valuable life experience. This ceremony is not the end of the education process. On the contrary, it is the beginning of the next struggle,” Ambassador Kartini said in an official statement.
She also expressed appreciation to SIT’s teachers, staff, school committee, and parents for their support in helping students grow throughout the academic year. Ambassador Kartini gave a special message to graduates who will continue to higher education, urging them to uphold responsibility, independence, and the trust given by their parents.
Of the 47 graduates, eight came from kindergarten, seven from elementary school, 14 from junior high school, and 18 from senior high school. Education Attaché and Acting Principal of SIT Amzul Rifin said the school has continued to grow, with student numbers rising from 165 in the previous academic year to 187 by May 2026.
He said SIT has also strengthened leadership programs, formed a Violence Prevention and Handling Team, and continued to align its academic and non-academic activities with Indonesia’s education policies.
SIT students also recorded several achievements, including a semifinalist position in the Astronomy category at the National Science Olympiad, the Best Delivery award at the Meguro English Speech Contest, and top-three placements in short story writing, mathematics, and robotics competitions among Indonesian schools overseas.
The ceremony closed with SIT’s 64th anniversary celebration, marked by the cutting of nasi tumpeng by Ambassador Kartini and a birthday cake presentation by Coordinator for Information, Social and Cultural Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo Muhammad Al Aula to School Committee Chair Merry Astrid Indriasari.
