RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Moroccan Ambassador to Indonesia, Redouane Houssaini, emphasized that educational cooperation between Indonesia and Morocco continues to grow and has become an important instrument in strengthening bilateral relations. He said the Moroccan government has provided various scholarships for Indonesian students wishing to pursue higher education in the North African country.
According to him, cooperation in the education sector is part of the country's soft power diplomacy, which can be utilized to enhance young people's understanding of each other's cultures and societies.
"Such cooperation is very important. This is what we call soft power, which I believe can serve as leverage for the development of our countries by allowing young people, especially students, to learn about Morocco, Moroccan culture, and the educational system in Morocco," Houssaini told Voice of Indonesia in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
Houssaini said Morocco is home to the Mohammed VI Institute, which specializes in Islamic studies and has gained international recognition. He explained that the institution attracts students from Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe, enabling them to study and interact with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
"We have the Mohammed VI Institute for students in Islamic studies in Morocco, which is very famous all over the world," he said.
According to him, the diversity of students at the institute reflects the openness and tolerance of Islam and underscores the importance of dialogue among cultures and civilizations.
"Students from different regions of the world study together there. This is important in presenting an image of an open and tolerant Islam, as well as promoting dialogue among cultures and civilizations," he said.
