RRI.CO.ID, Depok - Universitas Indonesia’s Faculty of Computer Science (Fasilkom UI) and Monash University have taken a significant step to deepen their academic partnership by launching a joint degree program in Information Systems, aimed at strengthening international collaboration in higher education.
Dean of Fasilkom UI Wisnu Jatmiko, speaking at the UI campus in Depok on Friday, May 5, 2026, described the initiative as a strategic move to enhance educational quality and broaden global opportunities for students.
“We greatly appreciate the efforts that made this agreement possible. This joint degree program marks an important milestone in Fasilkom UI’s international cooperation,” Wisnu said, as quoted by Antara.
Beyond academic programming, the collaboration also opens pathways for joint research and digital education initiatives. Fasilkom UI is exploring further opportunities in the Bachelor of Computer Science and Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence programs, with hopes of expanding into other academic fields in the future.
Monash University’s Associate Dean International, Faculty of Information Technology, Juliana Sutanto, welcomed the development as a new chapter in the long-standing partnership between the two institutions.
“We are delighted to broaden our collaboration with Fasilkom UI. Over the years, we have worked together on various academic and research activities, and now this relationship is evolving into a more structured educational program,” she said.
Discussions between the two universities addressed strategic aspects such as curriculum alignment, international student admissions, and opportunities to expand joint programs in information systems, computer science, and artificial intelligence.
Head of Fasilkom UI’s Master of Information Technology Program, Putu Wuri Handayani, emphasized that completing administrative processes will be crucial to implementing and promoting the joint degree to prospective students.
The dialogue also touched on the role of artificial intelligence in higher education, with Monash sharing its experience in adopting adaptive learning approaches while maintaining a strong focus on core competencies and student skills.
Through this collaboration, Fasilkom UI and Monash University aim to deliver globally competitive academic programs and provide students with meaningful international experiences aligned with industry needs and future technological developments. ***
