RRI.CO.ID, Malang - Indonesia's Brawijaya University (UB) is strengthening its international ties with South Korea through a visit by representatives from Woosung University.

The meeting, held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Global Partnership and Reputation Office, focused on exploring new avenues of academic collaboration designed to broaden global experiences for students and faculty alike.

Discussions centered on several initiatives, including a double degree program under the iDegree scheme, student exchanges, international guest lectures, and the development of online Korean language courses.

The iDegree program allows students to complete part of their studies abroad and graduate with degrees from both institutions, offering them cross-border learning opportunities and enhanced global competitiveness.

Woosung University also introduced plans for a four-month online Korean language course, tailored to improve linguistic skills and cultural understanding for students interested in international mobility.

In addition, Brawijaya University students may soon be able to enroll in Woosung University courses across diverse subjects, with credits transferable back to their home institution. These initiatives are currently in preparation and expected to launch in the coming academic year.

Head of Woosung University’s International Office, Ony Jamhary, underscored the institution’s commitment to expanding access for Indonesian students. “We want to open more opportunities for students to gain global academic experiences through programs that are flexible and relevant to future needs,” he said, as quoted on UB's official website on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

He added that Woosung University aims to provide a wide range of international programs--from double degrees and student exchanges to cross-institutional courses--that support the development of global competencies.

Both universities expressed hope that the partnership will foster sustainable international collaboration, creating more opportunities for academic growth, research cooperation, and cultural exchange. ***
