RRI.CO.ID. Jakarta - National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas), along with the Korean Culture Center Indonesia (KCCI) and the South Korean Embassy, strengthened cultural cooperation through a Korean Folklore Story telling Competition and the donation of 150 Korean-language books and magazines.

This donation enriches the Window of Korea collection at the Perpusnas Service Building and is expected to encourage public interest in reading and strengthen Indonesia-Korea cultural ties.

The Director of the National Library, E. Aminudin Aziz, expressed his appreciation for the ongoing support from the Korean Government, through a donation of 150 Korean-language books and magazines.

"Learning about Korea is not enough just from social media; it requires more in-depth reading. This new collection will attract students, lecturers, and the public to visit the National Library," he said.

Window of Korea is a special reading corner dedicated to the collection of library materials about Korea.

This service aims to strengthen information exchange between libraries in both countries and provide a variety of useful knowledge to library visitors.

The Consul General of the South Korean Embassy in Jakarta, Kang Won Joon, emphasized that this support is part of the Korean Government's commitment to strengthening literacy and cultural exchange.

Kang presented a donation of 150 Korean-language books and magazines covering a variety of topics, from culture, literature, art, culinary arts, to education, including books for children and teenagers.

"With these books, Indonesians can broaden their understanding about Korea and increase their interest in visiting Korea in the future. This collection provides visitors to the National Library with greater opportunities to explore the richness of Korean traditions and culture," he added.

In addition to the donation, the KCCI also held a Korean Folktale Storytelling Competition and created bookmarks.

These activities attracted high enthusiasm from both participants and parents in attendance.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Saturday (09 May), the story telling competition was divided into two categories: Children (under 13 years old) and General (over 13 years old). Participants enthusiastically presented stories, fostering an engaging literacy atmosphere, while also introducing Korean culture through folklore.

Through this collaboration, the National Library hopes that Window of Korea will not only serve as a thematic reading space but also as a platform for cross-cultural learning that enriches the public's understanding of world literature and culture.

This collaboration also reinforces the National Library's commitment to expanding access to international knowledge and strengthening cultural diplomacy through literacy.
