RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is targeting the revitalization of 71,744 schools by 2026, with a budget allocation of IDR 14 trillion. The program is part of efforts to improve the quality of national education facilities and infrastructure.

Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu’ti confirmed President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to expand the revitalization target, aimed at ensuring equitable distribution of education quality across the country.

“We plan to increase the target by around 60,000 educational institutions. By 2026, the revitalization program will have reached 71,744 institutions,” Minister Mu’ti said at a press conference at the Bakom Office in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

The 2026 school revitalization program is already underway in several regions. The government has finalized cooperation agreements with 4,838 institutions and will distribute funds to 3,408 institutions.

Government assistance has so far reached IDR 2.6 trillion, with several school projects across Indonesia entering the construction phase.

“In 2026, the revitalization program will prioritize schools damaged by disasters, including those affected by natural disasters in Sumatra and other regions,” Minister Mu’ti said.

Beyond disaster-affected areas, the government is also prioritizing schools in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions (3T). Schools with severe damage will be the primary targets of the national revitalization program. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
