Defense Ministry Opens Basic Military Training for Komcad ASN

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Head of the National Reserve Agency of the Indonesia's Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General TNI Gabriel Lema, officially opened the Basic Military Training (Latsarmil) for prospective Reserve Component members from Civil Servants (ASN). As many as 1,773 prospective Reserve Component members joined the opening ceremony held at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Lieutenant General Gabriel Lema, stated that the members come from some ministries/institutions at the central government level. He also explained that the participants had passed administrative and physical health screenings, as well as psychological and ideological mental tests.
"Thank God, today at the central level, all ministries/institutions are represented through 55 ministries/institutions that we have inaugurated for the opening of the training, totaling 1,773 participants. This is the first batch. As at the beginning of the year, the Minister of Defense, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has emphasized that by 2026, we will form 4,000 civil servants (ASN) within Komcad," Gabriel told reporters.

Based on monitoring of RRI VOI at Air Force Base, the participants wear complete military uniform including barets, line up nitely, event yell military styles.
Besides, Gabriel further explained that the prospective members will undergo training for approximately one and a half months (45 days). After that, they will be officially appointed as Komcad members.
"This training is a concrete manifestation of togetherness that fosters good mental character for civil servants. The training will last approximately 1.5 months. It opens today and is expected to conclude with appointment as Reserve Component members on June 5," he conveyed.
Furthermore, Gabriel stated that this training is expected to reinforce discipline and strong character among civil servants, thus positively impacting their performance in their respective workplaces.
"We hope this will provide added value to strengthen our sense of togetherness in implementing programs within our respective work environments," Gabriel conveyed.
