Raffi Ahmad: Creativity Needs to be Protected

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Vice Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, attended the 2026 National Creative Economy Movement National Working Meeting (Rakernas GEKRAFS) with the theme "Astakarya: Accelerating Work, Transforming the Indonesian Economy." She spoke about collaborations focused on innovation and concrete action for Indonesia's creative economy, including challenges and support for content creators, musicians, and talents from each subsector.
Irene Umar believes every creative activist can thrive through social media, reaching an international audience. According to a release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Saturday, 7 March 2026 , the speakers emphasized the importance of creativity, not just ideas, but also the ability to develop sustainable economic value, both through collaboration and the use of digital technology.
Echoing Vice Minister Irene's statement, Yovie Widianto, the President's Special Envoy for Creative Economy and Chair of the GEKRAFS Expert Council, affirmed that creativity often arises from limitations and challenges. Widianto also shared his career journey, having worked in the Indonesian music industry for more than four decades.
Meanwhile, Raffi Ahmad, the President's Special Envoy for Youth Development and Arts Workers and Deputy Chairman of the Central Executive Board of GEKRAFS, stated that creativity must be channeled into a business force so that creative economy activists can compete in the global market. He believes creativity needs to be protected through strengthening intellectual property rights and professional management.
He underscored the importance of cross-generational and cross-sector collaboration in the creative economy ecosystem. He believes that success in the creative industry stems not from individuals alone, but also from the solid work of established creative teams.
