RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia's Ministry of Creative Economy fully supports the 2026 Jakarta Dessert Week (JDW), which this year's theme is dangdut music. This step is a concrete government strategy to synergize the culinary and music sub-sectors to accelerate national economic growth and strengthen the competitiveness of the creative ecosystem on the global stage.

In a press statement received by RRI VOI on Monday, July 20, 2026, Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, assessed that the culinary industry cannot stand alone but is interconnected with other sectors. "When various creative disciplines collaborate and interact harmoniously, a new, much richer cultural experience is born, while simultaneously opening up new economic opportunities for creative industry players," Teuku said.

This synergy brings together two strategic subsectors, the music subsector, with an investment value of IDR 5.14 trillion (a 0.54% contribution), and the culinary subsector, with an investment of IDR 29.57 trillion (a 41.06% contribution). Based on creative economy growth projection data from the Ministry of Creative Economy, this cross-sector integration is believed to create a strong domino effect to expand market penetration for both industries while simultaneously equitable economic growth.

Jakarta Dessert Week is Indonesia's largest dessert festival, boldly highlighting the dangdut music genre as its main theme this year. This unique theme reflects dangdut's identity as more than just popular music, but a dynamic, inclusive cultural symbol capable of uniting people from all walks of life across generations.

This city-wide festival is scheduled to run from August 24 to September 13, 2026, as an official part of the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) ecosystem. The main agenda of this celebration is set to feature four pillar programs, including an Industry and Media Gathering, a City Takeover at dozens of cafes, a Dessert Markt public festival, and the 2026 Golden Swirl Awards.

This intersection of cultural heritage and contemporary creativity creates a limitless space for exploration, blending nostalgia, taste experimentation, and the visual aesthetics of the space. This innovative phenomenon proves that food is no longer simply a daily consumption product, but rather a highly effective medium for cultural diplomacy to promote national identity.

Through JDW 2026, the national creative industry ecosystem is strongly integrated through the collaborative approach of the GADO GADO Cultural Network. The Ministry of Creative Economy is optimistic that this ongoing cross-sector collaboration will continue to spur macroeconomic growth and strengthen Indonesia's strategic position in the global market.
