KBRN, Jakarta: The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia organized the “ Local Food Culture Festival” at the National Museum of Indonesia in Jakarta from October 13 to 19, 2025, in celebration of World Food Day on Thursday (10/16/2025).

With the theme “Sowing Seeds, Harvesting Life,” the event is part of the National Local Food Movement, a cultural initiative aimed at promoting Indonesia’s diverse traditional foods, local wisdom, and spiritual values. The movement encourages a greater appreciation of Indonesia’s food heritage as a reflection of cultural identity and sustainability.

Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, stated that food is not merely a basic necessity but also a reflection of cultural identity and national character. He explained that local food traditions have evolved through long interactions between people, nature, and ancestral beliefs.

The festival's philosophy takes inspiration from the traditional “kenduri,” a communal meal symbolizing gratitude and unity in Indonesian culture. According to the Minister, the event embodies the power of cultural values that foster togetherness, preserve local food traditions, and safeguard the health and sustainability of future generations.

The government, under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, has placed food security among its national development priorities. Minister Fadli highlighted that food self-sufficiency, energy independence, industrial downstreaming, and the Free Nutritious Meal Program are essential pillars in building a strong and resilient generation toward Indonesia Emas 2045.

He added that the Local Food Movement represents concrete support for the national agenda. The program aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Gender Equality, and Responsible Consumption and Production.
