KBRN, Yogyakarta: Yogyakarta’s vibrant culinary landscape has welcomed a new addition that’s drawing both locals and tourists. An entrepreneur from Cirebon, West Java, has introduced authentic nasi jamblang to the Gamping area of Sleman, offering a fresh destination for food enthusiasts.

Nasi jamblang is instantly recognizable for its distinctive presentation: rice served on a teak leaf, which imparts a subtle, earthy aroma.

The dish’s main appeal lies in its wide array of side dishes, known as lauk pauk. Diners can choose from options such as intestine skewers (sate usus), vegetable tofu (tahu sayur), fried beef lungs (paru goreng), and various types of sambal. These accompaniments are served in small portions, allowing patrons to sample multiple flavors in a single meal.

“Nasi jamblang is unique because it offers so many choices, and the taste is just as authentic as it is in Cirebon,” said Ema, a satisfied customer, on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

The owner preserves the original recipes and spices to ensure a genuine taste of Cirebon’s culinary heritage.

The establishment, named Nasi Jamblang Ini Budi, has become a nostalgic comfort for Cirebon natives living in Yogyakarta. It has also quickly gained popularity among locals and tourists seeking a distinctive culinary experience.

Strategically located in Nyamplung, Gamping, Sleman, the eatery is consistently bustling with customers. It opens daily at 4 p.m. and operates until all dishes are sold out.

“I enjoy eating nasi jamblang because it adds variety to my meals. The food is delicious, and the price suits a student’s budget,” another customer shared.

More than just a business, Nasi Jamblang Ini Budi contributes to Yogyakarta’s culinary diversity by introducing the rich flavors of another region. ***
