KBRN, Denpasar: Besides its cultural traditions and captivating tourist destinations, Bali also boasts a variety of culinary delights that maintain traditional values. One notable example is the presentation of food using leaf-based serving dishes.

As quoted by rri.co.id, Nasi Tekor Eatery in Kertalangu Village, Denpasar, Bali is a simple eatery with an old-fashioned concept. Its entrance features a modest archway with the name “Nasi Tekor” displayed above.

Upon entering the eatery, visitors experience a distinct atmosphere. The exterior and interior are dominated by bamboo, wood, and classic decorative items.

Nasi Tekor is one of Bali's culinary offerings that still preserves traditional serving methods. In Balinese, "tekor" refers to a food serving base made from banana leaves, shaped like triangular buds.

The selection of banana leaves as a serving base or plate has multiple functions. In addition to preventing sauces from thickening, research indicates that banana leaves possess antimicrobial properties, which help inhibit bacterial growth.

Pande Nyoman Darta (Kakek Tékor), the owner of Nasi Tekor Eatery said that this authentic recipe has been served in Kertalangu Village since 2015. Nasi Tekor is presented with a mix of Pekak Tekor or chicken-based dishes, including ares ayam (vegetable made from young banana stems), chicken satay, chicken vegetables, chicken eggs, and chicken serapah (semi-wet dish made from chicken meat).

Nasi Tekor also played a role in the establishment of the Boga Bali Living Museum in 2018. Located in Kerambitan District, Tabanan Regency, Bali, this museum of traditional Balinese food serves as a venue for interaction, education, culture, and art.

Becoming the favorite cuisine among travelers, Nasi Tekor prices at this place range from IDR 10,000 (approximately USD 0.6) to IDR 20,000 (approximately USD 1.2). Currently, Nasi Tekor Eatery operates from 8.00 a.m 5.00 p.m local time. ***
