RRI.CO.ID, Karawang – Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR) visited a facility operated by Sany, a Chinese heavy equipment manufacturer, at the Mitrakarawang Industrial Estate (KIM) in Karawang Regency, West Java – about 70 km east of Jakarta – on Monday, October 5, 2026. It is part of their series of working visits to gather industry feedback in drafting the Industrial Estates Bill.

Sany is a multinational company focused on a wide range of areas, including construction and mining equipment, port machinery, oil drilling machinery, and renewable wind energy systems. RRI Voice of Indonesia noted that its factory in Karawang mainly produces various excavators, with one type incorporating locally produced parts.

Deputy General Manager and Government Relations Director of Sany Indonesia, Saanjay Shamdasani, said the fast-growing market of Indonesia makes it a consideration for Sany to invest in the country. He said Indonesia as a key market in its region.

"Indonesia is currently a very fast-growing market compared with other countries. Indonesia is also one of our key markets in the Asia-Pacific region," Saanjay said.

"Sany and Sany Group basically offer not only excavators, but also a wide range of other products. We want to invest in Indonesia and bring technology, digitalization, and decarbonization to the country," he said.

Regarding the upcoming act on industrial estates, Saanjay expected that the House would listen to the industry's aspirations. He hoped the bill would benefit all stakeholders, including the industrial sector.

My first hope is that the DPR will invite business players to provide their input. Second, I hope the DPR will take their suggestions so that, going forward, this law can benefit the government, business players, and industrial estates as well.

The DPR is discussing the Industrial Estates Bill to establish specific regulations governing industrial estates, as Indonesia currently has no law specifically addressing them. At present, industrial estates are generally regulated under Act Number 3 of 2014 on Industry.
