- Exports of langsat to Malaysia through the Jagoi Babang State Border Post surged 701.3 percent between January and August 2026 from a year earlier.
- Malaysian demand for agricultural products from Indonesia's border region remains strong, boosting shipments of dragon fruit, langsat, citrus fruits, petai (stink beans), and other local fruits.
RRI.CO.ID, Bengkayang - Exports of langsat from Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan, to Malaysia through the Jagoi Babang State Border Post (PLBN) surged by 701.3 percent between January and August 2026 compared to the same period a year earlier.
Jagoi Babang Customs Head Arman Tarmidzi said the export value of langsat rose from around IDR 799.79 million in January-August 2025 to IDR 6.41 billion during the same period in 2026. "Langsat recorded the highest increase at 701.3 percent," Arman said in Bengkayang on Saturday, as quoted by Antara.
According to him, the increase reflects strong demand in the Malaysian market for agricultural commodities from the border region.
Several other agricultural commodities also recorded significant export growth. Dragon fruit exports rose by 176.1 percent, while citrus exports increased by 140.7 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.
Arman said Malaysian demand for agricultural products from the border region remains stable and continues to grow.
The commodities include dragon fruit, langsat, citrus, petai (stink beans), and various other local fruits. "This is reflected in the frequency and volume of shipments that continue to pass through the Jagoi Babang border post," he said.
Arman said opportunities to export local commodities from West Kalimantan remain open, including agricultural and plantation products that have yet to be formally marketed overseas.
However, he noted that export commodity development still faces several challenges, including limited understanding of export procedures, business legality requirements, compliance with quality and packaging standards, and supply consistency.
To support export growth, the Jagoi Babang Customs Office continues to assist businesses with export potential through outreach on export procedures, assistance with document processing, and Export Clinic services.
"We are also collaborating with the Bengkayang Regency administration, relevant agencies, and other institutions to identify new high-potential commodities and connect business operators with buyers in Malaysia," Arman said. ***
