RRI.CO.ID, Palu – Indonesia's Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), in collaboration with the Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin), strengthens the export readiness of MSMEs in the animal, fish, and plant sectors by facilitating the fulfillment of quarantine requirements for local products. This cooperation was realized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between MSME Minister Maman Abdurrahman and Barantin Head Abdul Kadir Karding during the "Movement of 1,000 Export Business Actors and MSME Entrepreneurs Towards the Global Market" event in Palu City, Central Sulawesi, on Monday, September 28, 2026.
"Today, the Ministry of MSMEs, together with the Ministry of Law and the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, is cooperating with the Indonesian Quarantine Agency to enhance competitiveness and support the growth of domestic MSMEs," Maman stated.
He noted that Indonesian MSME products hold massive market potential abroad. This is evident from Central Sulawesi farmers facilitated by Duco Food Indonesia company, who successfully exported 918 tons of durian. Meanwhile, Sentra Pangan Sejahtera company, partnering with local farmers, generated profits of up to Rp227 billion from durian exports.
Similar potential was seen from the participation of 75 business owners facilitated by the Ministry of MSMEs at the 2026 China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF) in Guangzhou, China. During the exhibition, MSMEs dealing in commodities such as coffee, cocopeat, sea cucumber, crackers, and rendang secured trade contracts worth Rp54.6 billion, recorded business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions of Rp325.5 million, and achieved potential business-to-business (B2B) transactions reaching Rp76.9 billion.
Maman explained that the government is responding to these vast export opportunities by building an ecosystem that aligns MSME empowerment policies and programs with the facilitation of quarantine requirement fulfillment. Consequently, collaboration across ministries and agencies with export-related authority is essential.
Barantin plays a role in providing information on quarantine regulations in destination countries while offering technical assistance to business owners in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the Ministry of MSMEs assists MSMEs in becoming better prepared to meet these various requirements.
Barantin Head Abdul Kadir Karding, affirmed his agency's readiness to support MSME empowerment so they can produce superior quality products while meeting international standards required for export. These efforts are expected to broaden market access for local products and contribute to regional economic growth.
"God willing, we will establish export clinics as consultation centers so that MSMEs understand how to export and adhere to international-scale product standards, ensuring MSMEs succeed in marketing their products abroad," Karding said.
